ALL of the Bumpdates from Pregnancy #2

Can you believe that I never shared a single one of my weekly bumpdates on here the entire time I was pregnant with Josephine?! Crazy, right? I was diligent about sharing each and every one while I was pregnant with Annabelle. I feel a little terrible, but... second child syndrome, I guess. Sorry, Josie.

I do want to share them, though, but I don't want to bombard everyone with 30+ weeks worth of photos in separate posts... so I'll be sharing them ALL here today. I delivered at 37 weeks, so I'll be sharing weeks 5 through 36.

The pregnancy was anything but uneventful. The first half was normal... we found out she was a girl at 16 weeks, but then at our anatomy scan at 19 weeks, we found out she only had a single umbilical artery - or a two vessel cord! That happens in less than half of one percent of pregnancies, and we had to be monitored extra closely to make sure she didn't have any heart or kidney problems (she didn't / doesn't) and that she kept growing on track (she did) because those babies can be smaller. It also increased our chance of having a stillbirth by quite a bit, so I was going to be induced around 39 weeks anyway... but then at 30 weeks, I tested positive for pre-eclampsia, so the goal was to just get me to 37 weeks.

I had twice a week BPP ultrasounds. If she failed that, I had to do an NST immediately, which happened three times. I met with my OB once per week and the midwife on staff once per week. They did a growth ultrasound every three weeks. I had to go to the lab for blood work one time each week and 24 hour urine tests every three weeks. I was on modified bed rest, which my OB referred to as "chill out rest" because he met Annabelle at appointments and knew there was no such thing as bed rest with a husband in the military. It was so insane, and we utilized a lot of hourly care at the CDC during that time so I could rest.

I was induced at 36 weeks 6 days, and she was born at 37 weeks 1 day! It was a really tough second and third trimester due to stressing over those issues, but in the end, it all worked out. I was able to labor and deliver how I wanted for the most part (I'll share her birth story soon), and Josephine was born absolutely perfect, so all the craziness was 100% worth it!

Without further adieu...

Sorry about that! But I really want these to be documented here, even if it's just for my own personal benefit. Thanks for looking... or for pleasantly skipping over this post if it's not your kinda thing!

Bumpdate: Weeks 29-30

If you missed my previous bumpdates, you can check out weeks 5-12 here, weeks 13-14 here, weeks 15-16 here, weeks 17-18 here, weeks 19-20 here, weeks 21-22 here, weeks 23-24 here, weeks 25-26 here, and weeks 27-28 here! I've decided that at the very end of this, I'm going to make a book out of all of my weeks so Baby Cookie can look back and read through them someday. I also hope to make one giant blog post compiling all of my weeks together to see the progress.
How far along? 30 weeks

Size of baby?
29 weeks: butternut squash
30 weeks: cabbage

Total weight gain? I've gained three pounds! This is progress! Seeing as that's what Baby Cookie weighs now... I'm just glad I've gained as much as she weighs. It was strange for a while there. Bad food on our road trip may have contributed to this...

Gender? GIRL! You can read about it here!

Maternity clothes? Oh yes. All the time. I did paint (furniture for the nursery!) in some XL Air Force shirts, though, and those fit fine (funny but covered everything).

Sleep? I have to go to the bathroom way too much these days for consistent sleep. And when I wake up, my fingers are numb, my feet ache, and my hips are in stabbing pain... so it takes a while to fall back asleep due to that.

Work outs? Walking here and there... but mostly just daily life is my workout these days.

Cravings? Fruit again. I can't get enough fruit. I'm especially loving peaches and pears right now.

Aversions? Nothing specific, but heartburn is worse than it has been all along, but I'm trying to avoid my trigger foods.

Best moment of this week? We enjoyed seeing so many friends and family members at our baby shower!!! We got so many amazing items... this little girl is spoiled already! I will write a post about her shower soon.

Worst moment of this week? Breathing has become difficult. I swear Baby Cookie moved completely because I feel her kicks in a different place now... and while I'm glad she moved (because I'm fairly confident she went from laying sideways inside me to head down), her feet are now jabbing into my lungs, making my breathing labored. I know it's not my asthma because my rescue meds don't help anymore. It should be a fun 9.5 or so more weeks!

Looking forward to? Our next ultrasound! I love seeing Baby Cookie any chance I get... we'll go back in two weeks to see her again.

Bumpdate: Weeks 25-26

If you missed my previous bumpdates, you can check out weeks 5-12 here, weeks 13-14 here, weeks 15-16 here, weeks 17-18 here, weeks 19-20 here, weeks 21-22 here, and weeks 23-24 here! I've decided that at the very end of this, I'm going to make a book out of all of my weeks so Baby Cookie can look back and read through them someday. I also hope to make one giant blog post compiling all of my weeks together to see the progress.
How far along? 26 weeks

Size of baby?
25 weeks: acorn squash / rutabaga
26 weeks: zucchini / scallions

Total weight gain? I weigh exactly what I did when I found out I was pregnant. I'm not sure how... but since the doctors aren't worried, neither am I.

Gender? GIRL! You can read about it here!

Maternity clothes? Jeans, jean shorts, t-shirts, and maxi dresses! Yep! Oh, and workout pants... because I don't want to stretch my good Nike running pants.

Sleep? I am exhausted. Plain and simple. I did spend a couple days in the hospital during week 26 for a kidney infection, and I got about four hours of sleep total during that time because doctors and nurses were CONSTANTLY checking my vitals, Baby Cookie's heartrate, monitoring if I was having contractions or not (I wasn't), taking blood or urine for testing, changing out fluids and antibiotics in my IV... you get the picture. It sucked, but I'm okay, and Baby Cookie is GREAT!

Work outs? I went with Dan to take Smudge for a nice, long walk after I got out of the hospital, and that felt great, but I was shot afterward. Couldn't have gone any further. We also walked around a festival for a couple hours, and that was tiring, but I'm glad I got some activity in after laying in a hospital bed for a couple days.

Cravings? Chocolate. Cheeseburgers. Pickles. Ice cream. Not all together. Luckily, Dan is husband of the year and obliges me way too often.

Aversions? Still chicken. And cucumbers and tomatoes.

Best moment of this week? Celebrating one year of marriage with my handsome husband!

Worst moment of this week? Being admitted to the hospital again... hands down! Ugh.

Looking forward to? I'm looking forward to going to Kansas City for our baby shower soon! It will be nice to spend time with friends and family and celebrate our little girl!

How on EARTH do you sleep comfortably and for long periods of time while pregnant? HELP ME!

Bumpdate: Weeks 19-20

If you missed my previous bumpdates, you can check out weeks 5-12 here, weeks 13-14 here, weeks 15-16 here, and weeks 17-18 here! I've decided that at the very end of this, I'm going to make a book out of all of my weeks so Baby Cookie can look back and read through them someday. I also hope to make one giant blog post compiling all of my weeks together to see the progress.

How far along? 20 weeks

Size of baby?
19 weeks: mango
20 weeks: artichoke

Total weight gain? Still down two pounds from before, but I finally talked to my doctor about it, and she is not concerned because baby is still growing as she should be.

Gender? GIRL! You can read about it here!

Maternity clothes? I have jeans, shorts, and several solid colored shirts. I also bought a pair of HUGE running shorts... because they were $10, and the maternity ones were $34... so why not?! They will fit forever. I think Dan could fit inside them with me if we tried. They're THAT stretchy.

Sleep? I have good nights and bad nights. I love waking up refreshed after a great night of sleep, but the following night always goes downhill fast.

Work outs? Work outs? It's tough enough to roll out of bed. Kidding... kind of. Just walking still.

Cravings? I'm not really craving anything lately.

Aversions? No REAL aversions, but I'm still avoiding tomato based foods for fear of reflux.

Best moment of this week? Finding lots of cute clothes for baby!

Worst moment of this week? Realizing that it's tough to sleep... because my belly is in the way now.

Looking forward to? The weather warming up! It's still in the 50s here, and we can't wait to go on a picnic and go for more walks outside!

Am I the only crazy person to feel super ecstatic about being half way there?!
